Before coming to Oak Lawn as our Senior Pastor, Rachel served for 10 years at University Park UMC. She is passionate about discipleship, social justice, and hospitality for those on the margins. A graduate of Texas Wesleyan University and Drew Theological Seminary, Rachel edited the CEB Women’s Study Bible and has contributed to a long list of curricula for Sparkhouse Press (including the resources we use at OLUMC!). Rachel is a certified Birkman coach who loves strengthening church staffs and lay leadership to improve their mutual understanding and ability to work well with each other. Her husband, Rev. Mike Baughman, is also a United Methodist minister. They live in the Dallas area with their four children, Griffin 16, Bekah 14, Sylvia 10, and Thomas 8.

Rev. Smith came to OLUMC after years of living, in his words, “the self-created catastrophe of my so-called life.” On his first visit to the campus, he encountered his “spiritual grandma,” longtime volunteer June Worsham, who made a disciple for Jesus Christ…simply by welcoming the stranger. Pastor Gregg oversees our outreach ministries and directs the OLUMC Community Outreach Center. He is best friends with our official church dog, LanceBingo.

Rev. Ben A. David Hensley is a Deacon in the North Texas Annual Conference. His passion lies in worship, and how worship is a verb that people “do” rather than a place or time in which people “are in.” He believes Christian Discipleship is a journey with many entry points–if you are curious about finding yours, he would love to speak with you! He has two undergraduate degrees: one in Theatre and the other in Music. He also has a Masters degree in Sacred Music from Perkins School of Theology. Ben mostly sings, and is the most comfortable singing jazz, classical, or theatrical repertoire. He also plays guitar and loves drumming. Ben lives in North Dallas with his wife, Rev. Becky David Hensley, and their two cats, Neo and Thunderbob. Find him on Twitter: @bahensley or on Facebook: facebook.com/bahensley. Ben blogs at sacramentaleffort.blogspot.com.

Mike has served as the Facilities Administrator at Oak Lawn since June, 2014. This was the beginning of his lay ministry in church administration as a paid staffer at Oak Lawn, but 2014 was also his 21st year as a member of this church. As an adult churchgoer, he has always been interested in helping to secure the financial resources needed to fund the ministry and mission of the church, and to protect the assets of the church. Now, he has been blessed to do this as his vocation!
Before God led him to work directly for the church, Mike was a tax accountant for 28 years, primarily working for national and regional firms in the practice of individual income taxation. The experience of being a CPA is serving him well in the business aspects of his role as Facilities Administrator by giving him keen insight into the business functions of the world in which a non-profit organization operates.
When Mike is not at the church, he enjoys collecting coins and stamps, reading about American history, and following college sports – especially his beloved Texas Longhorns. Most of all, he enjoys the company of and playing with his two-and-a-half year old bloodhound/shepherd mix, Ranger.

Eva has been the Administrative Coordinator at Oak Lawn since November 2013. Prior to her arrival at OLUMC, she worked in retail and spent a long time in school, earning a B.A. in History from McGill University in Montreal, Master of Education from SMU, and M.A. in Medieval History from the University of Leeds in England. Her time as a student allowed her to hone her communication skills, which she uses daily at Oak Lawn by running the website and all online communications (in addition to answering the phone, the front door, and all e-mail inquiries).
In addition to her job at Oak Lawn, Eva serves as Office Administrator at Lakewood UMC in Dallas and is a member of a book club with friends from high school and their parents. She enjoys photography and spends time taking pictures of her cat, Max, and of her friends’ babies.
