Holy Week and Easter at Oak Lawn UMC

We are so excited to share our church’s Holy Week plans with you! This is one of the most meaningful times of the year—a time to gather as a chosen family, reflect on Christ’s journey, and celebrate the promise of resurrection and new life. We hope you'll walk with us through these sacred days.

All services are bi-lingual and will be in ASL translation.

4/13 | Study 9:30 Worship 11 | Sanctuary & FB

We’ll begin Holy Week with joy, waving palm branches and shouting Hosanna!

• Our children’s procession will begin at the start of worship. If your child would like to participate, please arrive by 10:45 a.m. and gather in the Narthex (the space just inside the Cedar Springs entrance).

• Children will walk in with the choir, then head to Kids' Church as usual, returning to the Sanctuary in time for Communion.

4/17 | Gather at 6:30 and worship at 7 in the Fellowship Hall - we will not be live-streaming this service

• Join us for an intimate and meaningful evening as we remember Jesus’ last supper with his disciples.
• We'll gather around long tables for a shared meal and experiential worship.
• Please RSVP in advance so we can prepare enough food for all!
• Everyone is welcome—bring a friend!

4/18 | Worship at 7 p.m. in the Sanctuary

On this sacred night, we remember the crucifixion of Jesus with a traditional Tenebrae service—a powerful time of scripture, music, and candlelight. The service will include a dramatic reading of the Passion and will conclude in solemn darkness.

Easter Vigil – Saturday, April 19 at 6 p.m.

At Union Coffee, on the lawn

• This beloved tradition is back! Join us outside on the fenced lawn at Union Coffee for a creative, dramatic presentation of resurrection hope.
• Bring a blanket or chair, and dress in layers—this night always keeps us on our toes, weather-wise!

4/20 | 11 a.m. in the Sanctuary

In the Sanctuary, followed by a celebration on the lawn

• Jesus is Risen! Celebrate the resurrection with us at our traditional Easter worship service, including the welcome of new members, vibrant music, and a message of hope.
• After worship, stay for our Easter Festival—with free tacos and hamburgers, games, prizes, and an egg hunt. Invite your friends and neighbors—everyone is welcome!
