What is One Board?
The OLUMC One Board is a form of congregational governance. It consists of 9 lay members, serving three-year staggered terms, who hold various responsibilities including staffing, trustees, finance, ministry, and more.
The extended One Board is made up of all clergy appointed to Oak Lawn UMC as well as representatives from each of our partner ministries.

She volunteers in different ministries here at Oak Lawn, such as; community meals, clothing closet, Dallas responds, and Trans Clothing Swap, to mention a few.
We are so blessed by her presence and service.
Taylor Tompkins
Lay Leader / Membership Committee/ Inclement Weather Shelter / Class of 2025
Meet our wonderful Lay Leader. She writes and edits articles about the economy as Investopedia's Economics Editor for News. Has nearly a decade of experience as a reporter and editor covering business and finance. Work has been featured in newspapers, magazines, and academic journals.
Taylor has worked for more than a decade as a journalist covering business, finance, and the economy. She has served as a Reporter and Content Curator at CreditCards.com where she wrote and managed content about personal finance. She worked as a reporter and assistant managing editor at the Dallas Business Journal. Her work has appeared online and in print at outlets such as American City Business Journals, Yahoo Finance, CreditCards.com, and the San Antonio Express-News.

Scott Larson
Moderator of Trustees / Trustees Working Committee
Scott helps resolve conflicts in legal venues throughout Texas, including state and federal courts, as well as in arbitration proceedings. He has prosecuted and defended against construction claims in state and federal court and arbitration tribunals, representing owners, developers, and contractors. since he joined Oak Lawn we have witnessed his gifts and compassion for the unsheltered neighbors and migrant community we serve. he is also a member of the choir.
Ellie Lopez-Rodriguez
General Member / Trustees Working Committee / Class of 2023
Her current occupation is Administrative Assistant helping her father in the family business. The family owns a small electric company, where day to day, they coordinate and thrive on making the company great. Whether it is typing invoices, doing payroll, attending meetings, or ordering material, Ellie put her effort into delivering an excellent service. Overall achieving customer satisfaction is our most outstanding achievement.
What excites her the most serving in as a voting member in the One Board is to have the opportunity to be a helping hand. She said, "To help as much as possible with all my heart and all my love for God!

Esther is a Gracia Viva member who is active in ministries. She loves soccer and is very passionate about children. She is married to Betty Ortega for 39 years. lives in Terrell Texas loves movies, and loves to read about quantic physics.
Kelsey Maxwell Acosta
General Member / Staff Parish Relations Working Committee / Class of 2023
Kelsey grew up in DFW and moved back to Dallas in 2018 after living in Houston for six years, where she was working on her PhD in Biochemistry and Cell Biology from MD Anderson. She now works remotely as a Clinical Scientist for oncology clinical trials. You can find her working at coffee shops in the neighborhood after this pandemic is over!
She married her husband, Matt, in April 2019 and they have a brindle mix named Ruben. In her free time, she enjoys singing and playing violin with the church choir, reading, playing D&D, and trying new restaurants.
