Dallas Walks the Walk

Uniting for Transformation: Revitalizing Oak Lawn UMC to Uplift Lives and Build Hope!
Through outreach initiatives like Dallas Responds, Oak Lawn UMC offers life-changing programs that support unsheltered individuals, asylum seekers from around the world, and other marginalized members of our community. Grounded in the church’s core values of radical hospitality and unconditional love, we are committed to “walking the walk” by meeting the needs of our neighbors.
Together, this collaboration will create an even more welcoming, vibrant, and supportive space for those who need it most. We are grateful for all of the partners working on this project — thank you for stepingp up and make a lasting impact!
A huge welcome to a refreshed space! (Update: 11/26/24)
We are thrilled to celebrate the incredible transformation of our first-floor outreach and community center through the Dallas Walks the Walk program! The centerpiece of this renewal is a breathtaking mural in the main foyer, which radiates light and warmth, creating a vibrant welcome for everyone who enters. Each community room now proudly displays the colors of the Pride rainbow, making it easy for guests to find the right space—whether they’re resting during a night of shelter, receiving care at our migrant welcome center, or gathering as part of a community group. A heartfelt thank-you to Angelique Guido Design and our very own Dustin Ward for spearheading this inspiring “facelift.” As we prepare to serve our neighbors through the cold months ahead, we do so in a space that reflects the love and dignity we strive to share.

Keep up with our progress here! (Updated 9/15/2024)
Work has started by painting the 1st floor outreach programing rooms and hallways and we’ve started working on flooring for the administrative and clergy spaces. Come visit us for a tour on 9/29 after the 11 a.m. worship service!
