What’s Happening at Oak Lawn UMC

There is always something happening in the life of our church and community. Read our latest OLUMC Epistle e-news for upcoming worship, formation, service, justice, fellowship, and community events.

You can also subscribe to the Epistle and have the latest from Oak Lawn UMC delivered to your inbox each week.

Pastoral Care

You don’t have to carry life’s joys, questions, grief, or difficult moments alone.

If you would like to speak with a pastor or need pastoral care, please text 405-213-8944. We would be honored to listen, pray with you, and walk alongside you.

Wherever you are, there is room for you at Christ’s table.

Tips for Meaningful Online Worship

Church isn’t simply a building—and you aren’t watching worship. You are part of it.

Wherever you are joining us from, your prayers, your voice, your presence, and your story are part of our worshiping community. Here are a few ways to make your online worship experience more meaningful.

New Here?

Welcome! And we mean more than simply “welcome to our livestream.”

At Oak Lawn UMC, we believe you belong. Visit our Connect Card and tell us a little about yourself. We’d love to connect with you and help you discover more about our community and the many ways you can be part of it.

Prepare Your Space

Create a space that helps you be present for worship. You might light a candle, open your Bible, silence other notifications, or simply take a moment to breathe and become aware of God’s presence with you.

There is no “right” way to prepare. Come as you are.

Prepare for Communion

We celebrate Holy Communion each week, usually following the sermon, and if you are worshiping with us online, you are invited to prepare a place at the table with us. Before worship begins, gather a small piece of bread or something similar and a little juice, and keep them nearby for later in the service. When we come to the Table, know that distance does not diminish your place in this community: Christ’s table is wide, God’s grace is abundant, and there is room for you here.

Follow Along with the Service

Download the worship bulletin before the service so you can participate in prayers, readings, responses, and songs. You can view it on your phone or tablet or print a copy at home.

For a more immersive experience, use the largest screen available to you.

  • On most smart TVs, open the YouTube app and search for Oak Lawn UMC.
  • On Roku, open the YouTube app and search for Oak Lawn UMC.
  • With Chromecast, cast the livestream directly from the YouTube app on your device.

Engage Fully in Worship

Your voice belongs in worship. Sing with us. Pray with us. Say the responses aloud. Laugh when something is funny. Say “Amen!” when the Spirit moves you.

Share the Peace. If you’re joining us on YouTube or Facebook, greet one another in the comments during the Passing of the Peace. Every greeting is another reminder that God’s community extends far beyond the walls of our sanctuary.

Share your prayers. Submit a prayer request through our online prayer request form so that we can hold you and those you love in prayer.

Practice generosity. Worship includes our response to God’s generosity. You can make an offering anytime at olumc.org/give.

We amplify God’s love through radical hospitality, serving our neighbors and standing up for justice.
